Frequent Questions
Here are some of the questions we get asked all the time! If you have a question not answered here, please send us an e-mail, and we’ll answer as quickly as possible!
Where is your coffee grown?
Our coffee comes from the southeastern part of Mexico in Sierra Madre mountains in the State of Oaxaca. This area is ideal for growing a certain type of coffee bean called Pluma Hidalgo, which rivals the best coffees from anywhere in the world for its taste and complexity.
Is Cabo Coffee Organic?
Our coffee is certified 100% Organic from both the US. National Organic Program and OCIA International. The farm itself is within a tropical rainforest, and the coffee plants grow in the shade of other trees and vegetation. This forest is alive with wildlife that lives, eats and fertilizes these coffee bushes naturally.
What makes your Coffee a “Specialty Coffee”?
Our coffee is shade-grown at an altitude between 4,000 and 6,000 ft. This coffee is 100% Arabica beans and 100% organically grown.
What type of blends do you sell?
Our coffee is of a single origin, meaning that we don’t blend different types of beans or add any flavorings. We use one type of bean from our grower in Oaxaca, which has been consistent in quality and flavor for the last two decades. We produce a Medium Roast and a Dark Roast.
How long have you been in business?
The Cabo Coffee Company was created and started doing business in 2003. Our family has owned and operated it since 2006.
Why don’t you sell ground coffee on line?
To ensure your coffee arrives to you as fresh as possible, we only sell the whole beans online. Once a coffee bean has been ground, the intensity of its flavor starts to diminish, so it is best to grind only what you need for that perfect cup or pot of coffee.
Do you sell Decaf?
Yes, despite our tag line…. “Death before Decaf” …… we sell a premium decaf bean from Vera Cruz, Mexico. It is a natural decaffeination process, but it is not certified as 100% organic.
Who sells your coffee in the US?
Our coffee can be purchased right here on our website for delivery to U.S. addresses. We have distribution centers located in the United States. We hope to begin offering online sales to Canada and beyond soon.
What’s the best way to store coffee?
Coffee is best stored in an airtight container in a cool dry place. Contrary to what you may have heard, storing coffee in the refrigerator or freezer does not keep it fresh.
